ABSLTA recognises Signature (formerly known as CACDP), iBSL and ABC Awards as the awarding bodies committed to delivering high standards of British Sign Language (BSL).
Currently, in education throughout the U.K., England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own system and training in order to become qualified teachers.
Subject-wise BSL is a recognised language in the U.K., having been formally recognised by the U.K. Government on 18th March 2003 as a language in its own right. In Scotland, the British Sign Language (Scotland) Act was made law in 2015.
Becoming a qualified teacher, assessor and internal / external verifier may be different depending on the country that you reside in the United Kingdom.
